Elves in Training

Sweet Pea threw her first party on Friday.

She wanted to have her friends over, and she wanted to do something with her friends to serve others.  So, we created a little card workshop and invited her little friends over to make Christmas cards for some kids in the ER where our friend Kathy is a nurse.

In all honesty, I didn't really think this was going to work.  I figured we'd make a huge mess and move on to just snacking and playing.  I came to this conclusion based on Sweet Pea's recent track record with crafts.

Ornament decorating?  Yeah, notsomuch.

But we thought we'd give it a shot anyway.  What did we have to lose?  At the very least, we'd be able to play with our fun friends.

And you probably thought all former teachers were awesome at handwriting/sign making.
Sometimes I am, but like Anne, I have to have a perfect pen that is neither too scratchy
nor too dull.  And it has to be not at midnight.
But guess what?  The kids loved it.  Some of them sat and decorated cards for nearly an hour, even!  Sweet Pea made two.  She also tried to climb on the table.

We did a photo session with this little guy and his family recently.  When I held up
my camera at the party he asked me, "Is there a frog?"  I was totally confused
for a second, and then I realized I told him during our shoot to look closely
at my camera because sometimes a frog hops in my lens!

We then enjoyed some elfen delicacies.

Idea found here.

The kids really had a wonderful time, as evidenced here:

HAH.  Someday I'll get an amazing group picture of a bunch of babies and then be given an major award.

Merry Christmas, little elves!  We were so proud of your beautiful cards, and I know the kids are going to love them and the coloring books!
