Christmas Day

"O Come O Come Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel."

I knew I would cry a little Christmas morning.  It was inevitable.  My heart was all a-flutter with excitement to give my little one a gift I knew she would love, which was of course a really sweet reminder of God's love for His people and the Gift He gave us.

Sweet Pea has adored this silly dancing doll for months.  Every time we went to Target or Toys R Us and I showed her the dolls, she would smile hugely and dance along when she saw the dancing doll.  Be still, my mama heart!  So, of course, she had to have it.  She asked Santa.  Well, ok, I guess I asked Santa for her because she and Santa aren't exactly on speaking terms.

I think they made up though, because Santa forgot to eat one of his cookies, and someone swiped it off the plate and shoved it in her mouth before any of us even knew what was up.

She asked Santa for a "walking horse" for her doll and ballet slippers.

Discovering that Santa gave her a coupon for ballet lessons.

Inspecting the ballet outfit

I think Sweet Pea couldn't really believe that the dancing dolly was finally hers to keep.  She just kept smiling, kissing, hugging, dancing, and feeling a little shy that everyone was watching her.

Then came probably the best gift ever for a 15-month-old.  She got her very own box of tissues to tear open and apart to her little heart's content.

Score.

She didn't really fall asleep, I guess she was just resting her little overwhelmed head.
Then it was time for breakfast.  Oh, Christmas breakfast.  French toast, bacon, eggs, juice...why can't we have Christmas breakfast every day?

Finally, it was time to play with our Christmas gifts, watch a movie, cook, bake and relax.  It was good, guys.  So, so good.

Dueling trumpets.  Our neighbor friend practices his trumpet from his family's deck, and my dad plays back.  They go back  and forth trying to one-up each other.

Hugging or attempting to strangle?  Your guess is as good as mine.

Until next year, Christmas!  Gosh, but you were good to us this year.
