Eggs

Oh, egg decorating.  Such a simple, lovely, time-honored tradition.  Like cookies at Christmas, eggs at Easter are fun, colorful, family times that I always look forward too.

Note the intense focus.  We call that look on her face The Lloyd Scowl.  It runs in the family.  I'm probably doing right now as I type.

I love that my mom seems to always have a paint splotch somewhere on her person.  Can you see it by her wrist?  Paint is as much a part of her as Lucky Brand pants.

When I was a kid, I used to feel bad for grown-ups, that they didn't get Easter baskets or hunt eggs.  Same with the traditions of other holidays, too.  My mom used to tell me that the fun for them was in watching us, and that she even thought she had more fun that we did.  I never believed her.

Now I do.

We've had some of these same coffee mugs for years and years.  "Denial is not a river in Egypt" was always a family favorite.

The problem with chewing on Easter eggs is that your lips turn blue.

Happy Easter!

  1. How true it is that the adults' fun is in watching the kids! I didn't understand this fully until having Liza, but I feel like I get to live out my childhood all over just watching her enjoy everything. Dying eggs will be even more fun next year when Waverly gets it more fully!

Happy Easter to you all! Miss you:).
