I work at a Christian school. Our principal just started a chapel series entitled, "Jesus: Liar, Lunatic, Legend or Lord?" He likes to ask the kids lots of questions to keep them involved. He's a great chapel speaker for kids and they really stay engaged. Here's what happened just now.
Principal: Preach, preach, preach...*clicks to put up a slide stating Jesus: Liar, Lunatic, Legend or Lord? in bullet points.
Principal, speaking rhetorically: "So which one is it?"
One sixth grade student literally throws hand in air, nearly falling out of seat.
Principal, former teacher, is a little caught of guard and thinks student has a question: "Uh, yes?"
Student: "Um, Number D!!!"
*Entire sanctuary, including principal, bursts into laughter.*
Sixth graders are still concrete thinkers. They don't really do rhetorial questions. Unfortunately, we have just spent the past two days studying outlines in English class. NUMBER D? Really? Really.
