Oh, oh those summer nights

Last Sunday, we went outside for a little walk along the bay.  While getting dressed, I asked Bean to put on her sneakers.  This request was met with quite a bit of pouting, which took me awhile to understand.

"Honey, I need you to put on your sneakers."

"But I want to wear my flower sandals!"

"I know baby, but your flower sandals are a little small and you don't like to walk in them very much.  Besides, you said you wanted to ride your tricycle.  You need sneakers for that."

"But...but...princesses don't wear sneakers!"

Ah ha.  Princesses.

A certain someone is in a princess phase right now, a phase that has stemmed from her adoration of Tangled.  She carries around an old beanie baby chameleon of mine and has named it after the chameleon in the movie.  She wants to only wear dresses.  After a bit of discussion that a princess can wear whatever shoes she pleases, she agreed to wear the sneakers.

We rode and we biked and we generally enjoyed our lovely summer evening. What is it about sunset in the summer? It just feels magical and easy and lovely all at once.

I have to admit that I am a little jealous of our babies' hair. The same lovely, dewey breezes that ruin my look just make a little bit's hair even more perfect. It amazes me.

Honestly, "summer lovin'" has a whole new meaning to me this summer. I am so head-over-heels in love with these little ones we have been blessed with. Just when you think it can't get any better, a little one smiles and it just gets even better.

These summer nights are the sweetest I've ever known.
